Long time no bloggery! Yes, I know... I'm a blogging slacker! Those of you who follow me on Facebook get a few more updates, but I will do my best to spend more time here. I should be doing that anyway, right?

Well, my festival season is on hiatus for now, but I'll be playing the odd smattering of gigs until it picks up again in October. This past weekend  I played at the 'Bluegrass in the Spring' festival at Calico Ghost Town and, despite some weather issues, it was a wonderful time. I always meet the most interesting people! Calico is my home base and although it's a little hot, sandy, windy and uphill, I wouldn't have it any other way!

My festival schedule.
Doctor Linus P. Rassmussen and The Barber Gone Rogue at Calico Bluegrass in the Spring, 2011...or was it 1860...? hmm.

Tomorrow marks the official release of my album, Winter Trees! I'm really excited to bring it to the public with the help of Cinderella Records. I put a lot of myself into that album; it's just what I do when I write. Each song details an experience from my life or a story I would like to tell.  If you're out and about on iTunes, Amazon etc. pick up a copy. I know you won't be disappointed. And if you're really inspired, leave me a review! The feedback is always appreciated...and it helps with sales. ;-D

Have a wonderful week. Stay safe, keep warm and live well.

Today I am thankful for the opportunity to fashion a life of choice, peace, fellowship, charity and recognition of a purpose greater than our own. On this day of thanks I hope all of my friends, new and old, will take a moment to look around and experience a moment of personal reflection on the abundance and freedom which we have all been granted access to in this country and innately in this life.

Happy Holidays!

So the CD is officially out. You can find it on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Jango, iLike,  etc. etc. But in other news I'm implementing some changes here at my home page. I'm working on a total revamp here, a photo shoot, and a video for my song Jonah (which is really great, even if I do say so myself... and listen to that bass Austin Ward played on that track!! AMAZING STUFF!...).  I'm also excited to announce I'll be launching a project at Kickstarter.com in the coming weeks. I'm hoping to acquire the funds to really give my music a proper send off into the world. It's unfortunate that it takes money to do that, but that's life. I'm working hard, my fingers are crossed and I remain hopeful.

As always I'm writing new material. Actually, I have about 4 records already written chosen from my favorites in my catalog. BUT lately my material has been changing a little from what's on Winter Trees. More rhythm is to be expected.

Just a small update for now. But until next time... have YOU heard Patrick Park??? If you haven't you should. =-)

I'm finding that the studio is unpredictable. Well, I knew it had to be, but still... There were deadline issues, so June 15th is the new release date. But I daresay it is worth the wait. ;-D

My musical babies are growing up!.... whaaa????

So it looks as if I have three (ish) more sessions until  my CD is finished. I must say it has surpassed my expectations. I knew that ‘I’ liked the tracks, but I never imagined it could sound like it did last night. It NEVER stops amazing me.

Twelve tracks. All of them written at a time of emotional growth, breaking point, or in some wrenching transition life had thrown at me. Many of them written in the middle of the night after waking from a bad dream. It’s therapy; they are all the product of my experience, my thoughts, my life, my heart in varying stages of breaking into shards and healing again.

Last night we added percussion. I thought adding the drums and bass would be amazing and it was. But percussion was so rewarding. I’ve had the privilege of working with two veterans of the music world and I am in awe of their talent. For whatever reason they’re both located about an hour away (luck, fate, pure circumstance?). Between the two of them their experience and talent is astounding. I am amazed by these men. To see them take my music and give it their own touche is something for which I have NO words. I imagine it to be like watching your children grow up to be beautiful and successful adults and having a life you could have never imagined.

When you write a song and finally turn it into a finished product it’s like seeing a painting you’ve created be beautifully framed and hung on a wall. You can finally see beyond the simplicity and personal interest of your work and see that it IS art. This IS music. The thing that thrills me the most is that I am personally very pleased with it all. I am VERY hard on myself and I know when my music is bad (we're all in the process of improving, right?). But knowing that this would be a favorite album and a mainstay in my collection, well, that is so satisfying. But now I’m just itching to start a new project and I have the next three already planned.

I do believe I’m addicted.
